Geranium Essential Oil for Aromatherapy Massage

The dilution ratio for an adult is 15 drops of the Geranium essential oil per 6 teaspoons of carrier oil. For children, mix 3 to 6 drops of the essential oil with 6 teaspoons of the carrier oil. Then, it can be applied topically to the skin during the aromatherapy massage.

Risks

Geranium essential oil is considered safe for aromatherapy massage. However, users are at risk of getting skin irritations or allergies, which rarely occur when all the instructions are followed.

Therefore, we strictly urge that you dilute your essential oil before applying it to your skin. It will protect your skin from burns and redness. Also, ensure you conduct a patch test before the massage.

Geranium oil is sometimes added to baked products, therefore, it’s alright to say that it can be ingested in small quantities. However, don’t think of drinking it for any purpose. You can’t be so sure that the bottle contains a 100% pure Geranium essential oil, since essential oils are not checked by FDA.

Oral ingestion of essential oil could lead to stomach upset, internal organ damage, and death.

As mentioned earlier, it’s safer to conduct a patch test before taking an essential oil aromatherapy massage. It will assist in determining if your body is compatible with your oil choice. In this case, you can use it to know if you’re allergic to Geranium essential oil or not.

It’s done by dropping two or three drops of the Geranium essential oil on a small portion of your skin. The reaction of that small portion will tell you how to proceed; whether to stick to the Geranium oil or choose a different oil for your massage.

Bottles of Geranium essential oil should be kept away from children and pets. Pregnant women and breastfeeding mothers should discuss their conditions with a doctor before taking this massage. People using medicine should do the same.
